This was the winning Game Jam Project for the 2025 To the Moon Hackathon in Birmingham. For this Jam, my team and I only worked for a combined one day, and produced a short minigame where the player has to collect ship parts and bring them back in order to escape. I was in charge of the game’s many events, which pop up with yellow boxes, and are designed to disrupt the player as they try to make it back.
This project was for a game jam during my second opportunity week, this time with the prompt ‘Chain Reaction’. This inspired a reaper tracking down his target, bringing every hazard he comes across to deliver the killing blow and claim their soul. The game was somewhat inspired by the look of Paper Mario, and even with short time, I wanted it to be really polished. It luckily paid off, as my project won in the Best Game Design Project Category at that Jam.
This was my very first Game Jam project back in 2024, made in the span of a few days for another opportunity week, with the prompt ‘Rise’. I decided upon an unorthodox jump mechanic where Bob constantly jumps, but the player can alter his jump height. This made every platforming segment much more of a puzzle, and even required changing height in mid-air before hitting the ground. Whilst it didn’t win, it was given a special mention for the most unique jumping mechanics in the Jam.
Party Project is a free game inspired by the Mario Party Series. I decided to try and familiarise myself with the games modding scene by making a character mod, this being Marcy Wu, a prominent character in a Disney Series named Amphibia. I tried to accurately recreate her in the style of the game, and characterise her as close to her own portrayal as possible through her animations. I hope to design an entire board at some point, as I get more to grips with how modding works in the game.
